Hot days and slow fishing.

Lake dropping slowly, clarity was pretty good.
Down pours early in the week probably raised the lake up.

Caught fish on jigs deep and smaller fat cranks, nothing on topwater.

Trolling was sporadic, marked them @ 15 to <20fow which was not typical for summer.

We had to pull up the baits to not drag them under the fish.

Thinking about fishing there this weekend. It is a pretty good investment for me. I will be looking for walleye. I hope to find a stripe or two. I won't go down there if it's not pretty good fishing.

I don't know the lake so I need all the help I can get. Judging by the maps and a suggestion from a friend, the Pontiac area looks good but I don't know??

Thanks

appreciate the report.

I've been bass fishing a lot above Theodosia since the 4th.Starting before sunrise and they they been eating the paint off bigger lipless cranks until the sun gets up. About 9:00 you can go by the clock they'll stop biting it. I load up the jon and I'm back home by 10;30am. Positioning the boat near a ditch, depression or a channel. Caught them with the boat sitting in anywhere from 10' to 20' Nothing over 4lbs yet, but lots of steady action  Several baby whites too. They'll swarm on the bait right at the boat like piranha. Evidently the spawn was successful because there's millions of baby fish up there.

Pontiac area was pretty clear, most debris moved to shore or it sank.

.Yep, shallow cranks at sunset did pretty good.
Lots of flooded timber so prime looking spots were targeted more than outlying brush.

I troll for the walleye so make sure you can pinpoint your baits at the right depth.

well the last 2 mornings were non productive. Only 2 bass Tuesday and 1 today all of them short kentucky fish. That's weird because I had not been catching any spots in those areas until now.Tomorrow could be the day. Might try  dragging some deeper holes with a crank for a walter too.

The area I've been fishing has been changing. Caught 2.small spots on the lipless. Have a lot of confidence in it when fish are feeding on bait balls.Gar by the thousands now  popping all over. and they liked my cranks so i stopped trolling  Didn't see any gills or small fry this time , just acres of bubbles rising to the top. Will try a diff. place next time. Try to find those bait/fry schools again. That's when the bite was on.
