Seth Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 Dad and I ran down Friday evening. The water is low and clear and the fishing was much tougher. I ended up catching five and dad caught four. He got his drifting a 1" piece of an orange trout worm on a jighead beneath and indicator in the faster water below riffles. A few of mine came from the same water as well as down by the bridge on a green/white rubber leg jig. I tried a trout worm and had several bites, but they wouldn't eat it well enough to get the hook in their mouth for a hook set. The numbers of fish in the park was pretty low compared to when I was there last time. Haris122 1
DADAKOTA Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 Put a stinger hook on to catch those tail nippers.
Seth Posted July 19, 2017 Author Posted July 19, 2017 Hard to put a stinger hook on a 3" trout worm without screwing with the action though. It's a lot easier when you're using bass size soft plastics.
DADAKOTA Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 Used to use a tiny treble as a stinger when fishing emerald shiners for brook trout in the UP. Never used a trout worm so I am unfamiliar with the action. Just a thought.
Haris122 Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 When I went there last week, the number of fish also seemed pretty low. It was a hot Tuesday though, so maybe they didn't expect as many people to show up as actually did. Think I saw 150 trout stocked in the office when we got there in the morning, which sounded pretty low. I don't know if they stock them any more during the day though.

Sometimes they prefer the worm nose hooked and I may try a stinger for that setup if they are short striking.
