Gavin Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 The USFS campground at Greer costs a couple bucks, but you can camp free at the USFS campground at nearby McCormack lake, they dont have any facilities though... You can wade up by the bridge at Greer or take the trail down to graveyard hollow, but its best to have a canoe. Brian can arrange that for you. Greer to Turner would be my pick for a day float. There is free camping at Patrick Bridge on the NFOW, also at Hammond Camp by the CC bridge, but I usually stay at Sunburst ranch. Camping is less than $10 a day, they have hot showers, and Justin can hook you up with a canoe & shuttle. Kelly to Sunburst is a good day float. In Arky, check out Quarry Park Campground on the Norfork Tailwater, not sure where you can camp at Taney but someone else can probably recommend a spot. Cheers.
jdmidwest Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 If you stay at Mc Cormack lake on the 11 pt, go on out the road that goes past the dam, lock in the hubs and go down to the old river. This is above the trout area and in the good smallmouth/goggle eye part of the river. You can wade this area if the river is not up. Or you can fish the lake. You could also go south at Alton to Thayer, fish the Spring River at Laseters, then cut across to MTN Home. Gee, I wish I could disappear for a week.............. Terry Beeson Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 Our company is "forcing" us to take 10 days between now and the middle of June "off"... Vacation or a couple of weeks with no pay... I opted to take a vacation day every Friday... But that eats up all my vacation for the year... bummer... BUT... If all goes well, I will get to fish every Friday!
