Ranger520vx Posted October 14, 2017 Author Posted October 14, 2017 Yeah I am going to replace pinion nut. And didn't use a pipe wrench I used a crescent wrench on the flat for the water pump key and a box end wrench on the nut. Its actually a 2:1 13/26 I have checked into a rebuilt lower unit but I can do it myself for about half the price of a rebuilt one.
fishinwrench Posted October 14, 2017 Posted October 14, 2017 Yeah I looked into that for ya too. I can actually get a replacement for a V6 cheaper than I can get one for that Force 2 cylinder.
Ranger520vx Posted October 14, 2017 Author Posted October 14, 2017 Looked on SEI website I couldn't find a complete lower unit for this motor. I alsochecked into the GLM gear sets but when I called to check on them they said they didn't have one for that motor. Hoped they would they were about half price.
fishinwrench Posted October 14, 2017 Posted October 14, 2017 Check eBay. Liquidated stock from parts warehouses always end up there. I have a good lower unit for a Merc 45 (I'd sell for 250.00) that possibly has the same gear set in it. I am thinking it is 1.83:1 though. The Force may have a smaller propshaft and different gears. Too lazy to cross reference it. 🤗
