MOPanfisher Posted October 23, 2017 Posted October 23, 2017 Awesome. I am a week or.two from being able to go after thwm, but usually LOZ is smoking hot for crappie about the start of deer season, toss in a few whites and hybrids and life is good. Willing to share any techniques? Usually a 1/32 Oz white jig back under the docks is my tactic.
kjackson Posted October 23, 2017 Posted October 23, 2017 I've been doing fairly well off our dock with 1/64 ounce feather jig in several different colors, BUT the jig must have a Crappie Nibble on it. Having said that, while there are usually a few crappies under the dock, there are days when it's really good followed by not-so-good fishing. Haven't been chasing anything out of the kayak in a while, but when that will change Wednesday when we're back at the lake for a couple of nights. There have been quite a few boats heading up the creek, so I'm thinking that the whites are moving upstream. I'll have to test that... MOPanfisher and Johnsfolly 1 1

Minners, slip bobber set at 6-7' in 10 fow produced the biggest fish. Farther out and deeper I went the smaller the fish got. I caught several 12" after dark a couple nights ago in 3 fow casting small jigs. MOPanfisher 1
Members Yakalong Posted October 24, 2017 Members Posted October 24, 2017 Since bass fishing didn't go well for me this weekend, I turned to crappie fishing with a white jig and pink crappie nibbler, did pretty well. MOPanfisher 1
Members fishin_addict Posted October 25, 2017 Members Posted October 25, 2017 Thanks for the reports guys. My Dad had a 14" and 15" off the dock in 3-4 FOW. Only 3 keepers total, but I think that has to do with the shallow water dock not holding the numbers, but it tells us there are some shallow right now.
96 CHAMP Posted October 26, 2017 Posted October 26, 2017 The last 2 weeks I've been catching them in 12' of water about 6-8' deep and even in 8' of water in or around dock, caught some on back sides of docks in 6' of water, weekend before last on a sunny day I seen them suspended under the foam on a friends dock at midday, minnows have produced the big crappie for me, and they all have been very nice size. Good luck and happy eating! Johnsfolly 1
