Members KLiK Posted December 7, 2017 Members Posted December 7, 2017 Didn't bring a pole but went exploring a bit on the river around the Fenton area. George Winter boat ramp: George Winter: Highway 30: Old structure under water: Downstream on left(Old HWY30) and up stream on the right(HWY30). ~Klay
moguy1973 Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 Dang look how clear it is! KLiK 1 -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
Al Agnew Posted December 8, 2017 Posted December 8, 2017 Yeah, that's about as clear as you'll ever see the lower Meramec. I wish that Google Earth would obtain new aerial photos with the river this low and clear. The images from November, 2013, in the history feature on Google Earth are from when the river was very low and clear, but I don't think it was this low and clear then, and it's probably changed a lot since then with the floods. Members KLiK Posted December 8, 2017 Author Members Posted December 8, 2017 Wish I had a drone to get some aerial footage. Not sure if I've ever seen it this clear down this way, assume it's due to the low waters not picking up as much sediment. In the next few days I'm going to try and make it down towards the mouth and snap some pictures there, then I'll have quite a bit from Fenton to the mouth at the Mississippi documented. Have had the same curiosities in regards to changes of the contours due to the floods. This shows the current depth at 5.69ft at Arnold. 1989 appears to be the lowest on record at 4.30ft . ~Klay

I wish the Valley Park, Fenton and Arnold gauges showed flow because I'm sure the heights have changed some with all the recent floods. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson

Current Google map's image is from this year after September. I know because my neighbor cut down his two giant trees in September and on the regular Google maps they are gone. And I've been looking at them carefully after I go out and they are relatively current to what I'm seeing on the water. KLiK 1

For the lower Meramec from Pearless Park to Fenton it looks like winter where other area's up and down stream from there look like spring/summer and the river is filled up to it's banks. ~Klay
snagged in outlet 3 Posted December 8, 2017 Posted December 8, 2017 Not when I look there. The river is clearly way down at Flamm on my view. You can clearly see how small it is in relation to he regular shoreline. Maybe clear your history and see if it loads a new image??

Didn't think about that, cleared history and from my computer I'm pulling up an older image than if I use my phone, weird. Ramp at Mini Ha ha from my phone: Same area from computer: ~Klay
snagged in outlet 3 Posted December 8, 2017 Posted December 8, 2017 Crazy. I get the same NEW image here at work and my home computer. I even went and looked at a spot I fished Sunday and the image looks almost real time compared to what I saw live.
