Bill Babler Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 $250.00 total that includes two fisherman. Any of the guides can fish you right from your dock, and show you the best way to fish your particular area of the lake. That is for a 4 hr. trip. 8 hrs. is $325.00. Some of the guys may have it the other way at $225.00 and $350.00. Keep trying on your own, and if you decide to go, think of it as a very fun gift. I am fishing the dr. a little shallower than I am swimming the grub. That topwater bite is on us, but unless you have clouds, it dosen't last very long. Early and Late when the sun shines. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Members SplitShot Posted April 18, 2007 Members Posted April 18, 2007 I like to fish a senko (i'm sure it would work with a doctor) wacky rigged with a little twist.Instead of rigging it by hooking it thru the actual worm, take a rubber o-ring and roll it about half way down the worm.It needs to fit pretty snug. Then run the hook between the o-ring and the worm, never penetrating the worm. You'll still go thru a lot on a good day, but can usually get several more fish per worm.I love this bait, fished with 6lb. line and without a sinker.Senkos have enough heft where they can still be chunked aways out and then just let it float down and twitch it occasionally.Good Luck
Members GotaFish Posted April 18, 2007 Members Posted April 18, 2007 Bill, I enjoy reading all of your posts and appreciate all of the information you give. I review your posts everyday and daydream about actually getting on the lake. I will be heading to Bull Shoals this weekend to spend a week fishing with my Dad. I have never tried the turd worm, or a green bean as you called it, but plan to stop at BSP to stock up on the way to the lake. In your post the other day you mentioned using a no.1 worm hook and not a 1.0. Is the .1 a small or large hook? Thanks in advance for your advice.
Bill Babler Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 Very small. Be sure to take some topwater baits, as reports have a pretty good topwater bite early and late. Swimming that grub for BS smallie's is a given, so take plenty of 1/4 oz heads and lots of 4 inch single C-tails. Good Luck http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Members DougFunnie13 Posted April 25, 2007 Members Posted April 25, 2007 wanted to thank you again Bill for your help. Had a really good weekend for once on the rock thanks to your advice. Caught 18 fish total with 3 of those being keepers. All caught on doctors and grubs near pea gravel. Thanks so much!
MOBass Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 Something that needs emphasis is fish the baits mentioned on "light" line. I fish 8# green mono or 8# fluoro and have friends fishing 6# and even down to 4# when the fish have been hit real hard. I met a gentlemen at the ramp Sunday who was fishing 10# and my results were much better with the lighter line.
