A friend and I tried them on Sat.  One 18"  walleye and one short crappie.  It was a tough bite!  We found lots of ice in the backs of all the coves we tried and some floaters on the open water.  Had a few other fishermen out but a lot of duck hunters back in the coves and they were having a lot of action.

There were more ducks than I could count east of state park.

All ramps on the main lake should be clear.. From what I could see Master's and Cedar Ridge north and south were all open. No ice to be found.

Fished last night but didn't have any luck. Marked lots of shad with fish under them in a 52' river channel swing, but was not successful in catching anything.

They were very active and tough to stay on top of like you said. Talked to the only other guy at the ramp and he didn't have any luck either.

Get the drift sock and a couple extra split shot. It worked ok for me.

Yep the medium/large ones if you can find them, I like drop shot the best but next time I try it I think I will try some small spinner set up, just for some added vibration. I am working a bunch right now,  don't know when I will get out next.

I am not pretending to be any kind of expert, just trying to learn something new. Good luck !
