Iain Sorell Pres. Carp Anglers Group

In Fisherman Editor-in-Chief, Doug Stange, wrote this article about his 1994 trip to fish 130,000 acre Mille Lacs Lake in Minnesota with UK legends Bob Roberts & Peter Clapperton.

It foretells much of what has now happened in the development of USA carp fishing and also of what has yet still to come.

Doug has given his permission for us to share this with CAG members in honor of our 25 year anniversary.

I am sharing this with OAF....Mo

MONKEYS? what monkeys?

Posted

I am proud to have started with CAG in the early years, we even had several CAG events in our area before I moved to Texas, most times fishing here we would land 10-20 fish from 10# and if we were lucky a couple over 20-as much as 30#, most of this places we fished before I moved to Texas you will be lucky to land one over 15# (bass pro Bfing tourneys) but still can catch 100+ pounds of fish an outing.

I would encourage anyone to try and catch these fantastic fish, I have fished for and caught trophy fish of all kinds from 30# musky, double digit walleyes, big trout and bass, slab crappies and monster sunfish, I still love catching other fish but nothing has been as challenging or as satisfying as common carp fishing...fly or euro style, give it a try this season you will be glad you did.
