Members ric lee Posted April 30, 2018 Members Posted April 30, 2018 Fished Stockton Saturday. Water temp was 54 when we started out around 7:30 and at noon only reached 55 degrees. However Sunday at Pomme de Terre water temperature was 10 degrees warmer. Why is there such a temperature difference between two lakes not that far apart. Is it the depth of Stockton, the wind, both or some other reason?
dan hufferd Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 Darker stain in a lake will make it heat up faster. There are more factors, depth, etc. I am no scientist, just guessing.
Dutch Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 From dam area to Sac river I am finding 8 degrees difference.
Ketchup Posted May 4, 2018 Posted May 4, 2018 As a whole, Pomme always warms up before Stockton. I have fished both lakes countless of times on the same day the last 20 years and have seen as high as 14 degree difference. Pomme has less water to warm, is alot shallower, and more stained/green.
