Blll Posted May 2, 2018 Posted May 2, 2018 My dad got me into bird watching as a kid. Living around Chicago, we were blessed with plenty of trees and quite an army of different species. Bird houses and feeders were always a part of my life. Moving to NW Arkansas gave me a whole new group of local species. Sure I had seen a bluebird but here they are common. I had seen a piliated woodpecker, here I have a nesting pair . And the most common of birds in Chicago, the sparrow, is rather scarce here. Love your pics, especially the orioles which I have not seen in our 4 years here. Great hobby. Enjoy! Fish24/7 1
Fish24/7 Posted May 3, 2018 Author Posted May 3, 2018 That's nice! I like to shoot wild flowers too! After this last pink full moon there should be phlox flowers in bloom! yes, those Orioles I have never seen that many around here in the last 19 years! I missed an opportunity earlier in the month to get some shots of a scissor tailed flycatcher, first one I've ever seen in the yard. I'm anxiously waiting the return of our prothonotary warbler friends, should be any day now! Was on Bull Shoals not too long ago and took a bunch of photos of a golden eagle, pairs of bald eagles and a sand piper, but I made a mistake and didn't switch the camera settings from the macro setting to bird setting and when I got back to the house and looked at them ALL the images were kind of blurry ;( oh well, I'll be ready next time I'm not sure how long mocking birds live, or if it's even the same one . I feel like it's maybe a protector or guardian because there has been one perched on that pole every year since we moved here. Could have been here long before that too idk . Probably not the same bird for that many years but I'd bet it's offspring from the same "family tree" Blll 1
