Smallmouth float

I’m planning a camping float to chase smallmouth this fall. My question is, will my river Jon boat  with a jet work or am  I going to need a kayak for this adventure?

Depends on the area you go and how much rain we get. If your planning upper river you’d be best with a kayak unless we get decent rain. If your planning lower river your boat should work unless we continue to have a drought.

Rain is a big factor up until the middle of June In my 1752 blazer I could go from Jamesville to the lake with no problems

Do you want to float from point A to point B or put in at point A, float down and motorboat back to the put in?  If you want to do a downstream float, anywhere will work. Down and back  Hootentown is usually a safe put in to get back to.  The river for the next five miles or so down from Hootentown is good fishing.  Anywhere down from Hootentown will normally be fine for a jet to run up or down.  Horse Creek to Galena is good fishing too.  Have fun, it is a great river that's been enjoyed by many for a long time!

Yes I wanting to put in at point A and float. Camp and then continue on to point B
