Dutch Posted July 20, 2018 Posted July 20, 2018 I fished again on Monday. I only saw 2 other boats fishing. I fished from Hartley to Rouark and back and from Hartley to State Park and back. Only had 8 fish with maybe 1 keeper. I can not find a consistent depth or pattern. I've not been able to get fish from any of the brush piles where they normally hang out in the summer. Ned's not even working or I just haven't found fish. Are any of you guys fishing Stockton? Have you found a depth where they are hanging out?
Mhyde Posted July 20, 2018 Posted July 20, 2018 I'll be out there tomorrow EARLY to avoid the heat. haven't been out since June 2nd, it ought to be interesting. if I come across a pattern I'll post a report.
Members freefallin Posted July 20, 2018 Members Posted July 20, 2018 Quick report Took the grandson out Tuesday overcast and light rain. Beautiful fishing day. Primarily Little Sac secondary channel swings and main lake points. Maybe a dozen brown fish and Kentucky ( probably no true keepers) with the bite shutting down, completely down (nada bump) as soon as the sun came out and the wind stopped. Caught most on lipless, underspin, shakey head and wacky. The shad are definitely schooled up and relatively shallow. Bass are not shallow. All of our fish were caught in 25' + suspended 8-15 foot. Water color was good but very warm 88-90. Threw top water at dusk with nary a blow up. Slow rolled a single spin for a bit after dark nada. I might add did not catch a single fish out of timber. Chunk rock, 45 degree and medium boulders rendered maybe a couple of fish an hour. If you can find them I think you can catch them as they are likely schooled up and suspended. Going to re-spool with 8-10 pound flouro this weekend and give it a go on Monday and NED, shakey and wacky only. Without wind or at least some moving water I do not think I could catch a cold. tho1mas and zarraspook 2 BOTH POLITICIANS AND DIAPERS NEED TO BE CHANGED OFTEN AND FOR THE SAME REASON! Ronald Reagan
Mhyde Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 did absolutely horrible Saturday morning, put in at CC. water was very dirty only about 1ft visibility. I guess the winds really churned that water. only had 2 short LM on a jig and lost two more. any bites we did get were very quick, just hit it and drop it never really hung on to the bait. if you really wanted to you could have made a day out of following the Whites around waiting for them to bust the schools. I did manage to get my spook in one of the burst and catch one white. also caught 2 Flatheads on a jig. not much boat traffic. put in at 6am was the second boat and when we left there were 4 trucks in the lot. hope it gets better soon or I am going to be forced to go to Table Rock.
