fishinwrench Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 My time is on the fritz ....and I'm not even running a gen2.
Dutch Posted December 5, 2018 Author Posted December 5, 2018 There is a gps chip that couldn't do some kind of clock change back in October. It seems to be very wide spread. Gen 2 units are all that I have heard about.
fishinwrench Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 I assume you've tried unplugging it for a couple hours (completely remove the power source) then plugging it back in?
shrapnel Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 I'm done with Lowrance, 2 units in the last 3 yrs and problems with both of them. Think I'm gonna stick with Garmin for a while, especially with live scope on my radar.

It looks awesome, but I know there is no way I’ll ever get one on my boat unless I hit the mega millions or something.

That won't fix the time. It is a computer chip inside the gps. A third party made it. Lowrance is working with them to try to get an upgrade that will fix it. What I am trying to do is use my point 1 external gps antenna as a utc time source so I can have the time on my Gen 3 units.

Well some gps units get a running time signal from the sattelite. I have an "atomic clock" that does that and when it gets off I have to pull the battery for an hour or so. No way to set the time otherwise.
Dutch Posted December 6, 2018 Author Posted December 6, 2018 The utc thingy worked. I had time on my Gen 3s all day long.
