Members Troutguy Posted December 14, 2018 Members Posted December 14, 2018 I've finally retired after working hard for 48-years... now ready to do some smallmouth fishing. My health won't let me do multi-day float trips anymore, so it will be short day floats in calm water. I heard the Spring river and the Southfork Spring river was calm and had good smallie fishing. Since I'm 300-miles away, I sure don't care to go to the wrong river. Any thoughts on calm waters, wide sit-on-top fishing kayak or kayak fishing guides? THANKS for your help.

tjm Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 Residing in the RV? Did you find that lot you were looking for on the White?
Members Troutguy Posted December 14, 2018 Author Members Posted December 14, 2018 I found a couple but they are more than I care to pay at my age. If I were a young guy again I would make a deal. I'll just stick with campgrounds when in the area.
Al Agnew Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 Spring River has long slow pools but also has occasional small waterfalls. Floatable but not always easy. South Fork also has occasional drops over ledges, and tight brushy riffles. I don't think either of them are for somebody looking for calm water floats, to be honest. Most of these two streams would qualify, but those occasional ledges could be a problem. Lower Eleven Point in Arkansas is probably closer to what you're looking for. Middle and lower Buffalo, with rare exceptions, is pretty calm. Lower Kings River is pretty easy. But a lot of the Arkansas Ozark stream stretches are faster, narrower, and trickier than many of the Missouri Ozark waters.
