Was you fishing up by the parking area? I really need to get over there I live so close.

I talked with NRO and they said business has been down because of gas prices.

Maybe some of them will go under, there are too many of them now. The state should have stopped new rentals 20 years ago, then it would still be a pleasant trip down the river.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Oh you should have seen it Tuesday, The "Wine growers of the World" convention did a float from Bennett to NRO...complete with two (2) jetboat/paramedic escorts.

Fishermen were personally asked by the folks from NRO to "get out of the river" while they brought the jetboats in and got them all set up. They were as nice as they could be about it, and apologized afterwards....but still, something about that didn't set too well with me.

Even though I'm good friends with the people at NRO,if they had asked me to get out of the river.I think we would have had words.

As far as some of these places going under I could see it.But I dought NRO will be one of them.

I would like Gas prices to cut down on some of the Horseback riding in the area. But this is just one of my personal pet peevs.

Some of the slow down in business might be the crackdown on drugs and drinking on the river the last couple years.

The area has been getting more and more people for the last 15 years.

I'm sure they wouldn't either, and they shouldn't, they've been there a long time. But after the park decided that they needed to be in the businesses formerly provided by private industry, the vacuum has been filled by smaller outfits clogging the river to some extent.

Somewhere around the mid 80's the state DNR should have began issuing permits to the established livery's in existence then, in order to regulate access by commercial companies, but instead they went into the canoe rental business themselves!
