Looking for access

Bourbeuse Bound

Hello,

Been floating the Bourbeuse since 89 and without a doubt the best river to float/fish.  However, as I’m sure most of you are aware, accesses have become fewer over the years.  Noser’s Mill access on old 185 was barricaded off in 2000 after someone burned down the mill.  Mayer’s Landing no longer is useable due to the fact the river is now a half mile away.  Anyway, looking for a solution for a couple floats....

Does anyone have any accesses below Noser’s Mill?

Does anyone have any accesses in the vicinity of Mayer’s landing but actually on the river?  This would make Reikers to Mayer’s or Mayer’s to Union doable again.

Access would be for a couple small boats (would need a gravel bar or some sort of a makeshift ramp) and maybe a canoe.  Absolutely willing to pay whatever to utilize any accesses anyone has available.

thank you for your time.  Good luck all this fishing season!

I see this is old but here is what I have found.

You can pay $5 per person to park at Devil's Back which is just above Noser Mill.  They are good people and your stuff gets watched so that is good news.  I am not sure if you have to pay them as well to park at Peter's Ford but that is also private.  You must park in view of the house at a designated parking area.  We had paid $5 at Devil's Back and then parked here.  I am not sure if you can just show up or you need to pay but either way, your stuff is being watched.  They don't want craziness going on down by the river.

Mayers is just the pits.  I have found it not to be as bad to exit from the bottom and go down to Union.  I even think it might be best to come in from the bottom if coming in from the top but have never tried this.  That upper channel is super nasty, especially in lower water like we have right now.

The longest section without an easy access is Noser Mill to Rieker Ford.  We did it this spring and it was a long day, being 21.5 miles and all.  I hear there is a fishing club you can join about halfway down this section.  We just parked at Rieker and then paid to park at Devil's Back to do this part.

Mayers isn't so bad at 400cfs or so because you can float into all the channels without having to get out in stinking mud.  It is miserable at lower water though.  I have done it and it is disgusting.  I guess it would cost a lot of money to fix this or build a new ramp but this access is gross.  People are still there fishing a lot of the time so it does get used.  Unfortunately I see a lot of trash dumped as well.
