gonefishin Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 Why let the trout, crappie and bass fishermen have all the fun with get togethers and mini tourneys ect? I know there are a lot of bluegill fishermen out there so why not have our own get to know each other day? What does everyone think? I would rather be fishin'. Terry Beeson Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 You and Quillback have fun, GF... Just kiddin'... I'm in if I can make it... Are we gonna have gill fillets? Kansas Fly Fisher Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 Hey, you can count me in if the work schedule allows it. I'm up for some good gill's on a fly rod. Never done it, but I bet it's a blast. Also like to try some smallies some day too. John Born to Fish, Forced to Work KSMEDIC.COM
duckydoty Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 I've heard there is some real good trophy gill fishing in the Columbia area (Auseville or something like that) I'd be game for something like that. duckydoty A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Flysmallie Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 Also like to try some smallies some day too. You haven't been flyfishing for smallmouth yet? Is that possible? Who else hasn't been smallie fishing? If I can make it, I'm in on this perch jerking thing. I love catching them. Â Â
gonefishin Posted May 24, 2007 Author Posted May 24, 2007 We would have to figure out where we would want to have it. I like Stockton for Bluegill or Bushwhacker for Redear. Ducky already said he likes Columbia. What are some other ideas? I am all for having a bluegill fish fry. Would be a blast. I would rather be fishin'. troutchaser Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 Name your spot - I'll be there. I LOVE catchin' 'gills. As for the fish fry, I believe I read somewhere: "...of the bream fish, thou mayest catch until thine arm doth fail thee. Nevertheless, woe be unto him that catcheth the bream fish and fryeth them not, for such is the purpose of the bream fish. Thou shalt fry all bluegills, pumpkinseeds, redears, and all like unto them." Paul Rone
Quillback Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 I'm up for the fryeth of the Bream, I can also bringeth my boat as long as it's not too much of a driveth. Seriuosly, I'd be in for one of those MO lakes as long as it's relatively close to NW AR, say no more than a 90 minute drive.
gonefishin Posted May 25, 2007 Author Posted May 25, 2007 I think if we want to do this we need to pick a location and date. I don't know what the most central location would be for most people. I think either Stockton or TR would be good choices. I have had good luck catching gills at both locations and occasionally catch a Redear on the Rock. The date should probably be on a weekend so more people could attend something like the first or second weekend in June. Anyone who wants to attend let me know what you think about the locations and dates. I would rather be fishin'. "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch.
