Travis Swift
The last couple of years I've figured out where the bass are pretty good in the winter time on Taney......summer is a different animal to me. Are there any fish on the mainlake in the summer or do they all go back in the slough, creeks and coves in the warmer water? I keep trying to tell myself the big ones will stay on the main lake and eat trout but am I wrong? are they all going back to the warm water? am I totally wasting time even considering the main lake at all? Travis Swift
97 views and no comments......the legend that is Taneycomo bass continues. I'm not looking for spots at all just wondering if the main lake holds fish in the summer or not or if they all seek out the creeks and coves. tho1mas
The only bass I have caught in Taney have been up in Bull Creek. Have tried down around the dam for crappie & bass but no luck.
Ryan Miloshewski
I've caught them on the main lake above Rockaway down to Powersite all year. They still hang there. The water doesn't get that cold (was 67 down there last June). My problem is when I fish Taney I want to go for trout. “To those devoid of imagination a blank place on the map is a useless waste; to others, the most valuable part.”--Aldo Leopold
Seth Clarkson
I have the same problem in the summer, but mine is always related to the crazy thick grass. If it's so thick that the fish can't get through half the time to eat your frog, or your trolling motor has to be cleaned every couple minutes, it's not worth it to me. I will say that the fish are always healthy there, plenty to eat and do not get bothered much. I just assume they are in the coves hiding in all that grass. Haven't done great in the winter their either, have had some luck with jigs on the main lake docks when it's cold though.
Ryan Miloshewski
Also, in the summer a big grass bed blooms leading up to Powersite. 65 lb braid and a frog will lend you some hogs. Have to hit it right at first light, though. “To those devoid of imagination a blank place on the map is a useless waste; to others, the most valuable part.”--Aldo Leopold

I'll get down there sometime soon. “To those devoid of imagination a blank place on the map is a useless waste; to others, the most valuable part.”--Aldo Leopold
