Members Chris_STL Posted July 1, 2019 Members Posted July 1, 2019 Hi all, I'm a newbie to the site. I'm moving to Eureka in a couple of weeks. I've only fished the Meramec a couple of times and have never fished anywhere around Eureka. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
timinmo Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 The best thing any river fisherman can do is to purchase MDC's Paddlers Guide. I may not have the name quite right but you can get it online or at Powder Valley. It is like $9.00. Daryk Campbell Sr and Chris_STL 2
Gavin Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 Buy that book, then join the Missouri Smallmouth Alliance. Show up to a meeting and you will probably meet several people that will take u floating/fishing. A jet is better on the lower river, but you can float it too. You will be driving west on I-44 to fish mostly. Chris_STL and Daryk Campbell Sr 2

Al Agnew Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 The lower Meramec can be good fishing down to at least Route 66 State Park. You won't catch a lot of smallmouths down there, but spotted bass are plentiful and largemouth are fairly common. It's also a multi-species fishery, with walleye, white bass, catfish, drum, and just about anything else found in Missouri there. Accesses are many, and many of them are good ones. Chris_STL 1
