I'm so grateful to all the contributors to it, it certainly will help me, I hope it helps some others too! There's just something about the combination of a natural drift that you can achieve with a fly rod and a lighter version of the Ned Rig that the Smallmouth love. I can usually catch 2-3X more fish using this set up than I can using traditional weighted flys. Will try this. 11 hours ago, tjm said: Run and gun. Long casts. Boats. Run and gun suits me best, I struggle to sit still but I'll keep your tactics in mind when mine aren't working. I rarely fish midday anymore. I've been fishing mid day a lot but I'm going to start going after work since I know midday isn't optimal. Bryant Creek surely has smb over 14", I have never been there but it has more water gauged than creeks I have fished. Last flow on Bryant 186cfs, last on Indian Creek 106cfs. Last on Big Sugar Creek 33cfs. Thanks for the perspective, I hadn't thought of it that way! Now I'm even more excited to get back out on the water. 5 hours ago, Flysmallie said: 5 hours ago, Flysmallie said: I do admit that the chase and creation of these flies is a fun side hobby. What an understatement haha!
