Bassmeister Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 The wife and I went out today for shallow crappie. Third weekend in a row. Mid-lake area. Areas I’ve caught them in past years. Casting to the bank and out to about 10’. Wife caught one crappie and otherwise just a bunch of big bluegill and small bass. Did get one nice smallmouth in the boat though. So confused why I haven’t found a decent crappie bite. Hope everyone else is doing better!
Quillback Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 Crappie may not be up on the banks quite yet. How big were the gills? Were you getting them on crappie jigs?

I didn’t know If the bluegill moved up before or after the crappie. Didn’t measure them but they were pretty big and definitely eating size. Caught on crappie jigs.
Lance34 Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 Depends on what part of the lake you are fishing.. Water temp dropped back down to 55-58 this weekend down south.. Put the females down on the bottom in 14 fow when I went Sunday.. Males should be in the bushes.
