Shad

Is there anywhere to buy shad on the north half of Beaver. Or does everybody just catch them.

I don’t fish the North Half much but I’m not aware of anywhere around here to buy shad.  Maybe somebody up that way can chime in with more info but I really don’t think you can get shad (live shad) locally.  There are a few places you can get frozen shad for cat fishing but even those places are few and far between.

It is illegal to sell live shad in Arkansas, it is also illegal to transport shad from one lake to another so you must catch shad in the lake they are being used.

So what are the guides doing at ouachita? There is no shad in that lake. They used to go to Oklahoma or the Arkansas river to get bait?

Anglers and/or guides must catch their own shad within the same waterbody or they can purchase them through licensed bait dealer.

There are guides on Ouachita, who are catching their own shad from the lake.
