loo10 Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 Brownieman, you are correct sir! The fog this year has seemed to be the worst I ever remember. I launched my boat at 6pm on June 15th and could not see the bottom of the ramp at Cooper Creek. Went out briefly with my future son-in-law and with four units running, night approaching, and the thick fog.... we kinda lost track of where we were. Now I've fished Taney ALOT for years & years and I can't remember that happening before. We couldnt see the lights on the docks until we were almost right on them. We finally called it quits as it was starting to freak us out. Micheal Kyle Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Yes the fog is a huge issue in a boat. I have fished Taney at night In a boat a lot. I would never put a boat in with the water on at night. I always wait for the water to be turned off. I will then put in and motor up to Point Royal and float back down. I do have a gps on board so that I know where the channel is and can navigate safely down stream. I never mention the fog for the waders because I do not think that it is a big issue. In fact the more fog I feel the fishing will be better, and hopefully there is no one up that far in boat when the water is off. The only bad thing about the fog is that you can't see where any one is fishing. But a simple flash of the light and that problem is solved. Wrath, Like I told you on the Phone I don't think I would change my tactics just down size the fly that you would use up there for the big fish. In the fall I would use the exact same flies. In my opinion BIG FLY=BIG FISH. I'm not sure if I know what you mean by mind set unless is has to do with the stocking of the fish. Just remember just about everywhere in the USA there is a fish stocking program. I have the flies in a box with your name on them I wish that I could meet up with you this weekend and do some fishing, but we have to go north to visit the family. Terry Beeson Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 ...but we have to go north to visit the family... Does this mean I have to supply the background music for Friday night? Molly Hatchet is in the CD player of the Dodge as we speak... Members Wrath Posted June 28, 2007 Author Members Posted June 28, 2007 Mike, By mindset I mean I don't want to necesarily bring all my Michigan habits with me and waste my time using all of them for a different fishery. I'm used to wild trout with no hatchery supplements. Our big trout in the rivers up there feed on mice, chipmunks, scuplins, other trout, and crayfish mostly. I could explain further, but I am sure you get my drift. Terry, I'll have 600-watts of Evanescence on tap for Saturday night ..... ahh the young crowd Can any of you guys recommend some good BBQ in the area?
Members kitgebhardt Posted June 28, 2007 Members Posted June 28, 2007 Would it be too much to ask to get a little Foghat?
Terry Beeson Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Slow Ride or Fool for the City? Or that other song that I will not name here because SOME people might think I'm propositioning them... SHEESH! May have to throw a little "Tom Petty" in there for good measure...
