Which would you rather catch a 5Lb Rainbow or a 5Lb Brown?

I would rather be fishin'.

Brown for me...I think they are more wily. So I would feel better about myself saying maybe I did something right to catch such a fish.

To me Browns also are like catching Smallmouth over Largemouth. They seem to fight a bit harder than 'Bows. So yes, for the fight and the craftiness, I'd vote Brown...

That doesn't mean I would turn down the chance at a 5 lb. 'Bow, though...

I'd take a legit 5lb smallmouth over either...but I'd take a 5lb rainbow over a 5lb brown. I've caught quite a few browns that would have weighed at least 5lbs but not that many rainbows. They dont seem to get as big plus they jump. Cheeers.

Well, if we're bending the rules... An 800 lb Marlin...

I am always excited when I catch a large Brown. Lots of times they stay head down longer and I begin to wonder if I have a sucker on. Really exciting when I get the first flash of the Brown.

I would have to agree with the Caddis though, I think Rainbows do offer a special thrill when they jump out of the water. I don't think I have ever had a Brown do that.

I'd vote for the 5 lb brown. Like em both and wouldn't turn either down. But I like the coloration and the fight of brown trout better. Not saying rainbows don't fight hard - they do and they certainly jump more - but browns seem to have more staying power.

Gavin my experience has been the opposite. I've caught a fair # of rainbows 5 lbs or over but only one or 2 brown trout that approached that size.

Rainbows put up the better fight, aerobatics. Browns tend to bulldog like an old catfish and are usually just too much wearing down. I vote the bow!
