Tightline Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Seems that Rainbows are harder to get in,just stop and think how many times you've had a Bow spit that fly or jig, but, there's the beauty of those Browns and they do pull harder,I'd vote for the Brown!
jcoberley Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Rainbows for me! with a gill cross! LOL Just teasing Rainbow I will vote for. Fish slow and easy! Borrowed this one from..........Well you know who! A proud memer of P.E.T.A (People Eating Tasty Animals)
gonefishin Posted June 28, 2007 Author Posted June 28, 2007 I myself would rather catch a 5 pound bow over a 10 lb brown just like I would rather catch a 5 lb SMB over a 8 lb LMB. I am just curious with all the hype about making Taney a world class brown trout fishery what is going to happen to the bows. I would rather be fishin'. ollie Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 I will vote on the brown any day of the week. They fight more like a smallie and I like that. Greg Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 I myself would rather catch a 5 pound bow over a 10 lb brown just like I would rather catch a 5 lb SMB over a 8 lb LMB. I am just curious with all the hype about making Taney a world class brown trout fishery what is going to happen to the bows. I thought Taney was pretty much already a world class brown trout fishery? It sure doesn't seem to have hurt the bows much. Rainbows and browns coexist so well in so many different world class trout rivers I just can't imagine it being much of a problem for either species. They occupy different niches although I know the niches do overlap. Terry Beeson Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 The White system (as well as other similar systems) have had the foursome (Bows, Browns, Cutts, and Brookies) co-existing for a long time. The world record brown is from the Little Red. The one before it, the Norfork... and you can catch world class bows and browns in any White tailwater... shawncat Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 I have caught 5+lps. browns and bows out of the same stretch of the Norfork. The brown jumped at least 5 times.[maybe the 2Lps.test with a light drag setting had a factor in that].I also hooked a bow in shallow rapids that bulldogged straight upriver staying deep never jumping along with three long runs.I have caught enough trout to know thats not really the norm.Go figger. No vote I'm afraid I'll jinx myself.
gonefishin Posted June 28, 2007 Author Posted June 28, 2007 I agree bows and browns can co-exist in the same fishery. What I mean is if all of the effort is put into managing the brown trout are bows going to be swept under the rug so to speak. Personally I like the bows more than the browns but, that is just my preference. I would rather be fishin'. "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch.
