Brian K. Shaffer Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 The MO Dept of Conservation puts out an annual Fishing Prospects manual.. and every year Lake Taneycomo is mentioned as being very capable of producing the new state record largemouth bass. The biologists don't just make this stuff up either. Nice fish Frank! best fishes - Brian Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.
mhall02 Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 I wonder how a stocker rainbow trout jig would work on the big largemouth?
Members KRflyfisher Posted January 26, 2006 Members Posted January 26, 2006 If you read any of the stuff in the mags about the next world record bass, most people think it will come out of one of those clear and deep California lakes that are full of trout. I have read that trout are simply a superior forage fish with higher caloric value than most other food items. So if this is true for those California Bass, then it's not a stretch to believe that Taneycomo could have the next record largemouth swimming around somewhere.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted January 26, 2006 Author Root Admin Posted January 26, 2006 Castaic makes a big rainbow soft plastic bait. Made just for those California lakes.
ollie Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 When I was younger my Dad and Mom would take us down to Taney and we would fish all day long. We would go up to the cable if they were generating and if not we would go to the lower end. For the longest time my biggest bass came out of Taney below Rockaway too. When your 10-12 a five pounder is pretty good size! "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!
