cheesemaster Posted December 27, 2020 Posted December 27, 2020 I fished from 7:30 to 11:00. Wind was pretty strong after the first hour. I thought I was going to have a heyday. I had 3 in the boat after 5 casts with 1 keeper. Then it got slow. I ended with around 10 fish and a walleye that was about 16”. What does the length need to be for a walleye anyway? I caught the other 7 in a wind blown, sun beaten, chunk rock bank at the end of a bluff that stretched about 150 yards. All on a jerk bait. I did throw a rock crawler but I didn’t give it much of a chance. I included a picture of my “spot lock” - a stump that held me in position while I fished that 150 yard stretch for a few minutes. magicwormman, Fishrman and terryj1024 3
Quillback Posted December 27, 2020 Posted December 27, 2020 18" minimum for walters. I've caught a few of those 16" fish myself last couple of trips out. Looks to be a strong year class of those fish. cheesemaster and Carl W 2
rps Posted December 27, 2020 Posted December 27, 2020 Numbers are always high until they hit 18 inches. They reduce rapidly per year class after that. Stockton has fewer large walleye because of the 15" limit For you Stockton guys, I did NOT say Stockton was a poor fishery or that it had no large fish. I was talking about the fact that reducing the year class a year or two earlier changes the odds for a big fish. terryj1024, magicwormman and cheesemaster 3
