Hi everyone, I'm a newbie to this forum and to fishing Stockton. I am traveling down to fish it next weekend, Apr 24-25. I see the week preceding it will be cold and rainy. My question is, if I was wanting to target smallies, what kind of structure should I be looking for?  Maybe back into a jerkbait bite type a deal? Any general info you're willing to share is welcomed and thank you in advance.

With the crazy weather that we have had I won’t even tender a guess.  In a normal year they would be spawned by now and I would be looking for them off points and on flats in around 20 feet of water, but this is anything but normal.

Some years a TRD on a light head is the best smallmouth bait you can throw.

This is a strange and late year.  I fished Stockton on the 9th, and of the 16 bass I caught, 4 or 5 were smallies.  Caught 1 on a rock crawler and the rest came on the ned.  4 to 9 feet deep on secondary points.  Even though the water is still cold, you have to figure they would be staging close to spawning areas.
