jdmidwest
Happy Birthday Missouri. In celebration of it, I have been browsing map collections of our heritage. Not really, was looking at old maps and realized today was the day. https://mapgeeks.org/missouri/ http://alabamamaps.ua.edu/historicalmaps/us_states/missouri/index2.htm bfishn and snagged in outlet 3 1 1 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. jdmidwest
I was tracking our heritage. I know old plat maps of the farm go back to 1871 in my family line. I was trying to dig deeper. Spent time last night looking at the oldest ones. Back when Wayne County covered the whole southern third of Missouri over to the OK border. It shrank fast in a few years as that territory was divied up. Back in school, I read both volumes of the 1821 Book of Missouri. I don't remember much of it, but it was interesting. Missouri has held a place in our countries historical significance for a long time and still pulls its weight. Our families migrated from East TN shortly after MO became a state. Looking around and trying to find out when. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S.
