Members Garret Posted July 25, 2007 Members Posted July 25, 2007 Hello, New here, just registered today. I have a question about Parker's Ford. I have been reading about it but can't find it on a river map or in any of my Float Books. Can someone tell me how they get there? Directions from Montauk would be great. I go down to the park about 6 or 8 times a year but normally fish from Baptist down more than I fish in the park. The only spot I drive to is Baptist. The reason I am asking about Parker's Ford is that I am looking for some other spots to try. Any other spots down the Current that are accessible by car would be appreciated.
Gavin Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 http://www.mdc.mo.gov/documents/fish/sport/trout/montauk.pdf From the Park, its the second dirt/gravel road on your right past the paved road to Baptist Camp. Cheers.

Cheers. Thanks. I actually have ventured down that gravel road before but I got the feeling after not going to far down it that it was private or someone's drivway. I'll give it a shot next time down.
brittsnbirds Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 Garret, I was at Parkers this time last year and really liked the area. Went down a few weeks ago on a day trip from Bennett and for some reason couldn't find it. If I remember correct I passed a landmark called Nichols Farm. Didn't see it this time so I think I went the wrong way. If I'm correct you just follow the road. They have graded it since last year. It was pretty tough then, needed the four by four. I wouldn't try it if it's wet. If you do locate it let me know your specific directions. I may try to fish it again. Nice area.
jdmidwest Posted July 30, 2007 Posted July 30, 2007 B&B you must have been on the wrong road, Parkers Hollow access is usually pretty well kept. It is where the gravel turns back to pavement past Baptist Access on YY. There is a campground just past the turnoff. There is a church on the road near the end and some signs at the access area. It is a pretty good way down there. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
2sheds Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 I drove down to Parkers Ford last year in a sedan and was scared in several spots that I would drag out the bottom. I encourage a high clearance vehicle. Here's another map off Highway YY. Note that there are two gravel roads within about 50 yards of each other. You want the one that heads to the Lower Parker School http://www.topozone.com/map.asp?lat=37.446...&layer=DRGs
Gene K Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 From Salem - go south for 4.7 miles on 19 and turn right on K... Go 5.2 miles on K, then bear/turn right on E... Go 6/10 of a mile on E and turn left on YY... Go 6.0 miles on YY and turn left on gravel road CR652 (small sign) ...
