Members raise the motor Posted January 25, 2022 Members Posted January 25, 2022 Looking to replace my Johnson 115 HP 2 stroke with a 4 stroke from 90 to 120 HP. Would prefer one with controls or one that would match my existing Johnson controls. "God always gives His best to those who leave the choice to Him." Otto Davis
fishinwrench Posted January 25, 2022 Posted January 25, 2022 Are you interested in selling the Johnson 115 ? If so....Model # and price ?
Members raise the motor Posted January 26, 2022 Author Members Posted January 26, 2022 Yes I will sell the Johnson 115 when replaced. It is model J115PLEEM. "God always gives His best to those who leave the choice to Him." Otto Davis
fishinwrench Posted January 26, 2022 Posted January 26, 2022 1999 was a good year. 👍 If you need someone to do the swap/install I'm sure we can work something out that pleases us both.
fishinwrench Posted January 26, 2022 Posted January 26, 2022 Are you wanting a NEW 90 4S? If so I can check availability and get a price. I would advise against purchasing a used one that's out of warranty. But if you find one and have faith in it, I can certainly swap them out.
Members raise the motor Posted January 26, 2022 Author Members Posted January 26, 2022 I was looking for a used motor. I hope to find a low use engine that someone is upgrading for more HP. "God always gives His best to those who leave the choice to Him." Otto Davis

You do whatever you want......BUT.... If I end up with your motor I'll bet everything I own that the old 1999 115 Johnson will still be running strong when the BRAND NEW 4-stroke you bought yesterday is in a scrap yard.

Looks like he is wanting to buy an engine that someone is upgrading their engine. I am not disagreeing with you on the second statement, but on all my ramblings offshore fishing I have yet to be on a boat running 2 stroke engines. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.

I know. The reason why Mercury/Yamaha/Suzuki do not continue supplying parts for their older engines is because a larger percentage of their sales is SALTWATER......and no matter what kind of outboard it is.....it is only going to last so long in a saltwater environment. Therefore they don't feel that it benefits them enough to continue supporting motors for more than 8 years. Johnson/Evinrude, although they are currently no longer building outboards, will continue to support their motors for as long as they possibly can. Their target sales were predominantly FRESH WATER where outboards can last.....and last....and last.....

My question was why he was wanting a 90hp to replace a 115 I went ahead and made the call since I needed to place another order anyway. Waiting on the call back with a quote. I'll have the new$ here in a bit. 😉 gotmuddy 1
