Members yowoodchuck Posted April 19, 2022 Members Posted April 19, 2022 Any reports that might be helpful. Hoping for biting smallmouth and maybe walleyes...probably fishing mostly north end. Should I just punt that and go way uplake? I'm actually worried the wind will blow us out of the bigger water and well just have to tow to somewhere out of the wind. Or just go get more beer. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Dutch Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 I hope to fish the north end today. I was going yesterday but the 15-25 mph wind changed my mind. I will be looking for green fish but won’t turn down a few brown ones. I’ll be launching at the Stockton public use.

Stockton is the area worst on fishing on windy days. With that said, it is manageable without a doubt. I do it often. Trick is, is to pick an area big enough to spend the desired amount of time you are wanting to be on the water, so you aren’t tempted to make a long run due to running out of water. Can’t help much with walleye, as i fish for green fish, but stay away from the north end with wind predicted. Head east between Masters and Aldrich, or way south from Ruark and west, or CC ramp and west. Lots of fishable waters in those location with wind. Pretty windy up here today, but with the day off, i may hook the Skeeter up and head to Masters. Tournament there Saturday, and yep, supposed to be some wind. TinBoats BassClub. Dutch Posted April 22, 2022 Posted April 22, 2022 What I had in mind requires less wind than there is going to be so I’m going to Cape Fair and throw a spinnerbait.
Members yowoodchuck Posted April 23, 2022 Author Members Posted April 23, 2022 Much appreciated, Glad I'm not there today....a friend got blown off the water and is wondering if his airstream will flip over! I think he is being a bit dramatic. I think we'll assess the winds tomorrow and maybe drag the boat (17.5 Sea nymph) to Greenfield or Aldrich. Monday will be easier.

Well, had a tournament there today. Luckily it was a south wind, and not from the west or north, tho it still was rough. launched at 6:30 from Masters and ran to Highpoint area where we spent the day. Caught lots of fish, just no keepers. Lots of males up close. Was glad to get off the water. TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. If interested in info send me a PM.
Dutch Posted April 26, 2022 Posted April 26, 2022 I fished the dam area today. I tried spinnerbait, jig, ned and shaky. It was slow. I had 10 bites and caught 9 bass. 4 of them were nice keepers. All on shaky. The water clarity was good. I could see the bottom in 10’. The surface temperature was from 55° to 59°. There was no pattern. Some were near points and some were in coves. They were 4 to 15’ deep. blacknoseddace 1
MrGiggles Posted April 27, 2022 Posted April 27, 2022 I did okay last night. Crappie were real finicky and I never could figure out exactly what they wanted. Caught them anywhere from 30-55ft. All males that are starting to color up. Walleyes low and slow on the drop shot. 25ft or so, 2 shorts one keeper. -Austin
