I spent last week down at Pomme and the crappie spawn did not seem to be on. Now, i am a bass guy but will fish for crappies when the spawn is on. Let me ask you crappie guys: what happens now with the lake going up 10 ft? Will the crappie still come up shallow to spawn? Spawn in deeper water? Not spawn at all just dissolve the eggs? Thanks boys!

Crappie spawn has been happening for a few weeks.  They spawn in waves over a period of time.  Have seen a lot of fish on beds shallow before the latest rains.  High water during the spawn ways makes for a very successful spawn year.  They will spawn when and where they can.  The fast rising water would have held them off for a few days but with it stabilizing and just beginning to fall they will be back at it.  Hard fall would be 6 inches a day on Pomme and while not perfect won't hurt them.   3 days to hatch, 7 days to decent mobility and a ton of stuff to hide in makes for high survival rate.  2025 will be another super good crappie year.  High water during spawn makes for tough fishing but good spawning.

I fished Saturday afternoon and was catching them in 10ft of water under docks and in the flooded bushes.

It's hard fishing but they're still doing their thing.

Whites were dropping their eggs when caught on Saturday on Pomme.  Unfortunately, not me catching them, but a very reliable source.  I hope to try again by end of the week, but will probably be too late.

Whites will spew eggs for a long time it seems.  And that is a good thing, very glad to see the whites coming back strong on Pomme.
