Members Toseythecat Posted May 13, 2022 Members Posted May 13, 2022 Anyone familiar with what's in this lake besides the usual Largemouth, bluegill, channel cats. Are there any carp? It's very close to home and seems a good place to take the grandkids. Any other bank fishing spots in Franklin County would be appreciated too.
fishinwrench Posted May 16, 2022 Posted May 16, 2022 Ate watermelon and watched a fireworks display there once during a hot summer night. A couple folks had catfish lines out, but I never saw anyone catch anything. I guess it's illegal or something to let a dog swim there. 🙄
Gavin Posted May 17, 2022 Posted May 17, 2022 My wife is from Washington. The lake is a gathering spot, just like the bars down on the riverfront. I've been a there several times, give it a shot, but there is probably better walk in fishing on the BB and Meramec. Find a friend in town who knows how to fish for catfish on the Missouri. Hit the creek mouths, until you find a friend with a capable boat. You have lots of options.
Members Toseythecat Posted May 20, 2022 Author Members Posted May 20, 2022 Seem like it's got a good population of smaller bass. Got several like this guy fishing near the dam. Met some folks that have had good luck with catfish and some large carp. Not bad for a lake a couple of miles from the house.
Don Posted July 7, 2023 Posted July 7, 2023 The last time I fished Lions Lake was in 1973. I moved here from Washington in Feb 1974. I would walk there many times as a kid. I only lived a little over 1 mile away. I would usually come home with a stringer full of big bluegill and an occasional bass after fishing on the bottom with worms at the dam. Childhood memories. Don May I caught you a delicious bass.
