oneshot 1 Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 Watch it thinking again. If you have 6# Test Line. 6# is that when it will break or stretch? I usually fish the bottom but if a person uses a float it should put the bait in their face so should get more bites. I know some fish just naturally feed on the bottom. oneshot
fishinwrench Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 If a good knot is tied then 6# of pressure will not break it, but it will over-stretch it beyond its ability to recover. It will likely break (after being stretched) at somewhere between 7-8# if the knot doesn't fail first.

A suspended bait makes the hook and line far more visible to the fish. When laying on the bottom the hook and line are more camouflaged.
oneshot 1 Posted January 8, 2023 Author Posted January 8, 2023 While I'm here. I'm wanting mostly eating fish so I'm like most going overkill on my line. Using 30# on my Reels. 5 pounds is a pretty big fish. Seems 6# test is pretty good all around. oneshot
