Something you can try, if you have not already - this sounds like a permissions issue, virus or whatever reset permissions so that you're denied access.

Right click on start, select explore, you'll see a list of of folders, right click on the program files folder and select security, you'll see a list of users, select the user that is you ands make sure that full control is checked, then hit the advanced tab and check the propogate to child objects is checked so that will give full control to all folders under program files. If you don't have full control then this virus or whatever is changing permissions, also check your other folders.

Anyway just something to check, hard to troubleshoot things via message boards.

Found the problem.

I use an external hard drive for data and keep all my programs on the hard drive. I moved the external to my lap top to do some work on it and that's when it started not giving me permission. I should have noticed it right away but there was a laps of time there so I missed it.

I found the answer while browsing google, searching with actual error statement. Someone mentioned an external hard drive- when I read that I knew what it was.

Thanks!

If you do get viruses I have had the best luck with AVG (www.grisoft)which has removed viruses missed by Mcafee, Symantec, Trend Micro, Sophos etc. I could probably document several hundred instances like this. Also installing CCLeaner on your PC (www.ccleaner.com) and running it frequently helps. It is a free tool that wipes your cookies, temp files, history etc (your IE and/or Firefox temp files are many times the culprit for harboring the bugs you don't want). You can also set it to clean your search history (items you have type in the Google search etc)

If you install CCleaner follow the installation closely and notice that it tries to install the Yahoo toolbar but you can opt out. I install this on client PCs all the time and it really cuts down on viruses and spyware/grayware.

AVG is free if you use it on one computer. It is funny because I read articles about how great a product it is yet the other companies sell alot more product.

As far as the MAC argument, they have their place. I work with a couple of die hard MAC guys and I like to raz them about it. Microsoft is still the main streamplayer in business and home wether people like it or not. MACs are good also but there is less support out there and hardware is more expensive (not always but in most cases). They are awesome with graphics.

There are not as many virus/spyware written for MACs because there are not as many of them out there. I don't know that a MAC is "bulletproof".

I dont know that Mac's are bullet proof either but I run a Mac and upgraded to OS X. I run Nortons anti-virus and anti-spyware on it. Since installing OS X over a year ago Nortons has found 0 viruses and 0 spyware issues. Also since installaing OS X my computer has froze up two times. Both times was when I was trying to use MS Word for Mac. I used Mac computers from about 1980 to 1996 then swithced to PC. I used PC for about 10 years. I bought another Mac a little over two years ago and have so few problems that I no plans of ever switching back to PC.

I would rather be fishin'.
