oneshot 1 Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 Got 6 Blueberry Bushes I'm worried about hoping the Drought didn't kill them. 2 are leafing out so their good, just have to wait. Had Cherries blooming. Won't know if the freeze killed the blooms. Blackberries everyone was saying mulch with Leaves. Great they killed my Blackberries but I replanted. Strawberries I have to make another Bed. oneshot
fishinwrench Posted March 22, 2023 Posted March 22, 2023 Drought? When did we have a drought? I think that word has lost it's true meaning. I faintly remember a REAL drought in my lifetime, late 60's-early 70's. Pretty much anything smaller than a shotgun shell that got dropped on the ground was gone......never to be seen again. Because the cracks in the ground were 3' deep. I remember my mom throwing a hissy fit because she dropped her high-dollar cigarette lighter, and the ground was too hard & dry to even dig for it. Wasn't any "government bailouts" for farmers in those days either. The poorest families that I knew, growing up, were crop farmers. Man they really had it tough. Looking back I think it took them every bit of 10 years to recover from that.
oneshot 1 Posted March 22, 2023 Author Posted March 22, 2023 We didn't have any rain last Summer and everything was dying. I mowed my lawn twice second time was to just even it out. Cherry were blooming but I think they froze. oneshot
