Members Person01 Posted May 26, 2023 Members Posted May 26, 2023 Hello, does anyone have any experience fishing clear water lake over near Ellington and Piedmont Missouri? Are there walleye in the lake? Also, how would you suggest targeting bass this time of year? I’m thinking about trolling some deep diving crank baits and vertically jigging binks spoons.
Jerry Rapp Posted May 26, 2023 Posted May 26, 2023 no walleye in lake. There are some below the dam. Topwater early along steeper banks. Night fishing picks up as the weather warms. Traffic gets pretty heavy as the weather warms.
Members Person01 Posted May 26, 2023 Author Members Posted May 26, 2023 Think traffic would be manageable this weekend early mornings and late evenings talking 5am-9am and 6-8:30pm? I’ve only been out on that lake a handful of times and it’s usually got a lot of skiers and recreational boaters from what I remember.
Jerry Rapp Posted May 26, 2023 Posted May 26, 2023 early morning should be ok. Rec traffic usually goes till dark in the evening.
jdmidwest Posted May 28, 2023 Posted May 28, 2023 Since they dropped the water to protect the dam, its half as big as it used to be. And always off color. Never CLEAR. Most blame the Taum Sauk incident. I think it has to do with lowering main pool several feet and wake washing up all of the built up sediment from the years before. I have never did much there and its only 20 minutes away on the weekend. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
