Hawg Posted August 17, 2023 Posted August 17, 2023 I took a couple buddies of mine out to a stream somewhere in southern Missouri, and absolutely slayed the smallmouth and shadow bass (I think). Brought down a bunch of your Hellgrammites @Mitch f and had a blast. I stopped counting after 50 smallmouth I put at least four over it 16 inches into the kayak but I missed an absolute donkey that went under a branch and dragged my kayak cross the river before she got off. Rigged them up with a plain ol lead jig head and also used them as a trailer on a jig. Good times. Cheers fyi in another locale, earlier this spring, I caught an 18 1/2 incher during the spawn with the gray colored shark tail but I did not have my phone with me (sure) Mitch f, Daryk Campbell Sr, nomolites and 1 other 3 1
Mitch f Posted August 17, 2023 Posted August 17, 2023 Great report and thanks for the kudos! The Hellgrammite really works great in the rivers and finesse applications. "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor

I have used just a regular jig head and I’ve rigged it with a small offset shank gamakatsu Texas rig. obviously, I get the best action out of the jig head but I was wondering if you do anything different. I did the best with the maple syrup color at this spot. Daryk Campbell Sr and Mitch f 2
