basska Posted May 7 Posted May 7 Hey all, This Saturday, I am thinking about doing a short (4-8 hour) Smallmouth float along the Gasconade or Big Piney River, as I won't be too far from the area for other reasons. I have limited down my Outfitter options to either Boiling Springs Campground, Froggy River Resort or Gasconade Hills. Just posting here to see if anyone has any recommendation on these, and if anyone has any opinion on the stretches of river they float, both for fishing and scenery. The gauges look good now and the time of the year is right, so I'm not so worried I won't catch some fish. Obviously, the stretches I would be floating are either the Gasconade above the Osage Fork or the Lower Big Piney. Thanks Daryk Campbell Sr 1
Flysmallie Posted May 7 Posted May 7 I’ve always had good service from Gasconade Hills and floating around their area. basska and Daryk Campbell Sr 2
Gavin Posted May 7 Posted May 7 The Big Piney runs faster & clearer and you will see fewer jet boats. If hitting the Gasconade....you wont see many jets above Hwy 28 during low water, but you may see a few at this level. Gasconade Hills, Boiling Springs are fine. Buddy used Froggy's said they were fine. Route 66 would be my first call for a lower B. Piney float. Haven't called him in a couple years....if not in biz Boiling Springs on the Gasconade is just 2 ish miles downstream. basska and Daryk Campbell Sr 2
