But you're right in that a bare-bones boat has a lot to recommend it. I told one dealer that my requirements were a vee hull, flat floor and a livewell. I would be happy with a tiller, but my wife wants me to buy a side console because, "They're safer." Once upon a time a company up north made a hydraulic accessory that stopped engine torque on tillers. Because it competed with Mercury's Big Tiller models. The bought the company and the patent and did a Johnny Morris. I had one on the Alumacraft tiller boat. I was great.

I asked how many came back for leaks, faulty wiring or other assembly problems and he suggested that roughly 85% came back for at least minor repair. Maybe their quality control has gotten better.

I think BP in St Charles farms out their “add on” rigging to a company in Earth City. Earth City, AKA best duck hunting spot ruined by urbanization. Greasy B 1
