Update, I can't do it 😀

The way the fluoro flips around when its doubled over is just too fiddly for my old hands, so I'm staying with the double uni that I know well.

I thought I would give fluorocarbon another chance on the bait caster...nope, I'm not great at the caster yet so that in combination with the willingness of fluoro to unwind itself for no reason didn't work for my dumb thumb.

On a positive note: I put some 50# braid I had laying around on the caster I made it manageable for me.

I bought a few el cheapo chinezzium knock offs that work pretty well. I bought 2 Piscfun spark pro 8.1:1 for $37 each new paired them with 40# Reaction tackle braid ($35 for 1000m), I can throw a weightless fluke no problem,  also purchased two kastking reels for around $65 each, one was the Zephyr for throwing light stuff ( paired with 10# braid I spooled off something else) and their Mega jaws, it has a centrifugal brake, I would highly recommend this reel or one like it for someone new to the baitcaster world. A guy can literally launch this thing with no input from the thumb until you want to stop it.

Maybe someday I'll have some fancy reels to go with these fancy rods, but for now these should get the lure in front of fish.

Thanks again for all the input and advice !

I run cheap fluorocarbon on my bait casters and don’t have any problems.  I use 8, 10, 12 and 15#.  What line is troubling you.

It's more than likely my technique. 15# Yozuri, is what I was using

I've used a uni to uni for years. Under 10 lb test needs to be retied at least mid-day, the only failures I've had are breaks at the knot/leader junction. I assume from repeatedly hitting the guides. I'm also partial to Sunline.
