Have been searching E-bay and some other sites and have been coming across some Lowrance units that are new and used in good condition. The units in question are the LCX 17 and LCX 15MT. I know at one time these were top notch. What would you do if purchasing the new LCX 27 or 37 is out of the picture. Would you replace an X-135 and a Vexilar EDGE 2 with a couple of these units? Thanks in advance.

fishrman,

To my knowledge the LCX 17M is the same graph as the 27C except the 27 is a color graph. I own the 17M and love it. It is a great graph and has all the watts and pixels you need. I personally am looking to purchase a new graph so I can move the 17 to my dash. I have been looking at both the 27 an 37 but I would not hesitate to add another 17 either but I want color.

Both are good units. I have the 17 at the console, 15 at the bow, both RAM mounted. At the time I ordered my boat, I went with the 15 because I was used to it from my previous boat. Probably should have gone with two 17's. The 15 is good, but the 17 is clearly better.

If they are a good price I'd jump on them. Either one will draw the weight, line space, and 4" worm on a drop shot once you get them dialed in. And fish too, hopefully.

Personally,

I really think color is the way to go. Once you use color you will never want to go back. Even though the LMS520C has a smaller screen, color will bring so much more to the party.

Either way, RAM mounts are the way to go. I have both color units mounted on RAM and really like the options.

Good luck

Color for sure is easier to use.

it is a ball and socket type mount that allows your unit to be tilted or rotated at any angle. they are awesome!

If you can read this thank a teacher. And since it is english thank a soldier!

Unless you do a lot of deep water fishing and want the larger screen, you have all the power and clarity you need with a X135. Save your money and learn how to run your 135 in manual mode.

Hey JRay

I would like to start more drop shotting and spooning, but I am having trouble with the 135, if I start more of this would it not be more beneficial to go to the 17 or 15?

Thanks for you input I appreciate it.

Fishrman...that is exactly why I bought my first X15 in 2002. It literally openened up a whole new world, went from spending all my time shallow and struggling up the Kings or James to blowing around in the middle of the lake chasing deep fish. Really prefer a deep spoon bite over almost any other way to catch them now.
