Rusty Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 We have ice, tree limbs falling all over the place, power was out for a couple of hours but is now back on. So far, no one in our house has been hurt, but everytime we hear a tree limb start cracking we all run to the center of the house...Kinda eerie. Kids are laughing and having a great time, but I am a nervous wreck. This morning first thing, I moved our vehichles out from underneath the carport and 30 minutes later the limb came crashing down. That was a close one. I'll post pics later. Here is my house: Here is my neighbors house across the street: We lost power around 2:30 PM and are not expected to have it back until tomorrow. I am really glad my in-laws bought a house close by, that is where we are at now. Wish us luck.
Bman Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 Freezing rain, temps down to 27 deg...groan at least last years freezing rains brought down lots of weak limbs. And the power co had trees trimmed back near power lines. We will see,at least I have my batt powered laptop. Bruce The only good line is a tight line

The Caddis Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 Local weathermen said this was just a prelude to what was to come later tonight, tomorrow and on in to Tuesday.
davekeim Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 STL rain, rain, rain. Until dark then watch out. Gotta go pack some more crap! Man I'm sitting down for afternoon football. Been at it since 8 this morning! Signed, Cardiac Abdito! Another Beautiful Day In The Ozarks
flyfshn Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 My son and I went to Cuivre River State Park in Troy, Mo for a managed deer hunt. Arrived Friday afternoon and they had approx 1-2 inches of rain and sleet on the ground and sometime that evening, the sleet and freezing rain started and continued on and off all day Saturday. Was heavier on Saturday evening and when we woke up on this morning, trees and branches were breaking and it was pretty frightening. It took 1 1/2 hours to drive 7 miles to get out of the park....had to clear trees and branches off the road! Once we crossed the hwy 40 bridge into chesterfield, the trees had ice, but nothing like Lincoln County! Fish On! Mike Utt “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery. Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted December 10, 2007 Root Admin Posted December 10, 2007 Not sure how much rain we've gotten but we could use double or triple. Table Rock hasn't started rising yet. Hopefully we'll get a 3-5 foot jump in elevation. I've heard Kimberling City to Reed's Spring has ice on the trees. Not sure about north of us. But I'd be surprised if we don't get ice this time. We were spared last year... We'll get the chain saws out and get them ready for some cuttin'.
Members DavidF. Posted December 11, 2007 Members Posted December 11, 2007 It's really bad here in central Oklahoma. This is our third day of freezing rain and sleet. Over 500,000 without electricity. One highschool burned to the ground this morning. Auto accidents too numerous to count along with 15 fatalities. The devestation is unreal. It will take weeks to clean up the tree limbs just in my yard. Batteries are in short supply or sold out, and generators are getting scarce. Stores and gas stations closed. I hope everyone else is safe and warm. DavidF.

flyfishmaster Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 DavidF, Ice storms are devestating to everyone envolved and have such a high impact to the area. Just a little over 1 year ago we in the St. Louis area got hit by a huge ice storm and we were in the same boat as you are today. I had to pack my family up and go to my parents house for 4 days until we got power back. What was great to see as I was going to work one day after the storm were 15 Electric company trucks (in arrow) from OK coming in to help. I know everyone down there is hurting but I'm sure help is already there or in route. I even saw electric company trucks from Mississppi and Alabama too. Hang in there and our prays are with all of you, because we know how you are feel. FFM aka: Kim Ahne Woo Hoo Fish On!!
