drew03cmc Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Whoever quoted my statement, I have not fished Taney for trout, and never will, is justified above. The only time of year you could see me there is fall, when the chance at a 15# brown is better than 1/1,000,000. Phil, thank you for using the phrase I used earlier "put and take", which was shot down VERY quickly that most of the trout stay in the lake and grow...I cannot see that happening, there is a lack of food, scuds, sowbugs, midges, etc. Phil again, what is the approximate amount of trout that the lake could support if all were catch and release? Did the lake trout in BS work out, or did they fizzle? How about the brownies? Trav, I would hire you to dredge some deep holes for big brownies! Andy
bigredbirdfan Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 I'm in favor of a $5 daily trout tag around the hatchery period You have to pay this way in every other "trophy area" Help with cost of put and take fish. Cause you know its "All About the Money"

"1/1,000,000" You have a much better chance than that of catching a 15 pound brown here. "Phil again, what is the approximate amount of trout that the lake could support if all were catch and release? " I have no idea. That's a fb question (fisheries biologist). As for your comment about 14 inch rainbows... IF you're a good fisherman, and you have the means, you should be able to catch numerous 18-inch rainbows in a day's time on Taneycomo. At least they are there in abundance RIGHT NOW. They aren't always though.
Trav Posted June 24, 2008 Author Posted June 24, 2008 Phil, Maybe I should have looked up the meaning of congruity, I havent been in school for a long time. Not to make excuses but it actually means to discuss between things. Either or my intended meaning is closer to discord or dissonance. Haha And to catch a Brown over 15 pounds.....I havent done that. Maybe because I havent caught a 100,000 of them yet? I do know they exist though. Drew, I couldnt take money just to show you how to wiggle flashy oversized baits unless you caught more than two fish a day. It just wouldnt be right. And "put and Take" was in referance to the rainbows. The Browns are "put and Grow' Thats why your only allowed to keep one a day. And a legal sized Brown can get close to 3 pounds. Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted June 24, 2008 Root Admin Posted June 24, 2008 Had to double check you since you flunked your last diction quiz. dissonance 1. inharmonious or harsh sound; discord; cacophony. 2. Music. a. a simultaneous combination of tones conventionally accepted as being in a state of unrest and needing completion. b. an unresolved, discordant chord or interval. Compare consonance (def. 3). 3. disagreement or incongruity.
Micheal Kyle Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 I have not really been paying attention to this thread but you all have some good thoughts and if the better thoughts were presented to the right people, the right way they might consider doing some thing different. I have caught big fish all up and down Taney from the top to the bottom. I am 33 and last year was the first year I caught a Brown over 10 pounds, I have had a few on but never got one to hand until last fall. Here is a pic I have caught quite a few rainbows that would come close to the 10 lb mark but nothing over 10 pounds. I would like to think that people would see the revenue that this fishery brings in for the state and understand that if it were destroyed by interjecting other species, what it might do to the surrounding business people. It could be very devastating. One last note In an earlier post #146 there was mention of some one having a the Missouri State Record Brown Trout mold and could make replicas of it and limited quantities were available. I and two other people have the original fish made out of the mold plus I own the original mold. we can make all the replicas you want just let me know. Michael To Know People Is To Know Thier Ways!
Trav Posted June 24, 2008 Author Posted June 24, 2008 Haha Discord- Lack of agreement or harmony. Give a brother a break Phil! Haha "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson

Micheal Kyle Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Not to me. Unfortunately that's the society that we live in the almighty DOLLAR. If it did not produce a revenue there would be several guides, fly shop, and lodge owners that are on this site that would not be able to operate. Plus there are several people that are employed by such business that would not have a job. So you can think what you want about the money thing. To Know People Is To Know Thier Ways!
