I was told that in 2001 there were about 40,000 put in at Beaver Creek. It's too bad that they didn't weigh, measure, take pics and release them instead of killing them and having them stuffed.

Dutch, you might want to reword that, unless of course you were there and you know for a fact that those fish were actually releasable in the first place, and that they were not the "catch of a lifetime" for those lucky anglers.

I agree thoes Stripers are a hard fish to release. I do alot of fishing on Beaver for them and the bigger they get the harder they are to release. Also thoes are not a fish that reproduces naturally in Bulls Shoals and I think it is better that they where taken by a fisherman, and put on a wall than die of natural causes.

I didn't mean to be thorny, but the guys who caught them are friends of mine and those WERE the fish of a lifetime for them. They were walleye fishing with light baitcast gear, and it took at least half an hour to land each trophy.

Congrats to two well-respected, resource-conscious guys who were out there, putting their time in, earning the hot bite, and making their own informed decisions about what to do with their legal catch.

First let me just say awesome catch,i fish Bull alot & have caught a few Stripers but nothing like those two.

Second if i had of caught them, well bam they would be on my wall as well,what a lifetime catch congrats to both of them.

Third who cares what someone else thinks, you caught them legal there yours to do with what you want.

Fourth i know my spelling & typing suck's guess what don't care you get the jist of it.

Yep, so far my luck on BS at Beaver sucks! I am inclined to go for a "release" also......When you get those beauties back.....If I show up......Will you release them? I had always heard that big Stripers will die shortly after the incredible fight they put up.After catching one last spring at Beaver I know that it is true.Mine was dead right after boating it,and it was only half the size of those two.Those are some bruisers.
