Seth Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 His scuds are great also. His soft shelled scud is another pattern I try to copper but they never turn out anywhere near the quality of his. I say and hope I get to stop in at his shop everytime I get down to Taneycomo, but some reason or another I never get a chance too. Probably becuase I am too busy fishing the whole time hehe.
jOrOb Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 I have never used copper wire to rib my g-bugs, but it makes sense. I guess you do well on it tied that way? I say if it works for you then do it. I personally dub a body and palmer the herl like a hackle. I can see how the wire rib would make it much stronger. Thanks for the idea Seth. jOrOb "The Lord has blessed us all today... Seth Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 I tied up some last night and I left out toe copper wire ribbing. I will give them a try this weekend when I get down to Taneycomo and see if the fish care. JoRob, have you fish with Brett before or stopped in his shop?
jOrOb Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 I have never had the pleasure. I have seen him on the water a number of times, and I like you keep saying I am going to go by and visit his shop, but I usually end up fishing instead. jOrOb "The Lord has blessed us all today... Members bowfin47 Posted June 8, 2006 Members Posted June 8, 2006 The John Deer micro-jig was originated by Big Dale Wilkinson, one of Dallas Texas's Road Kill Road Table Tyers and a regular tyer at Southern Council Conclave. He ties it on a 1/100 jig. Big Dale ties a series of "tractor logo" micro-jigs, i.e J. D., Allis Chambers, and etc.
