Danoinark Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 I thought about the safety issue with a polling platform also. But I think the flats boats would work great in the skinny water and are very stable. I wouldn't need a platform, but I would want railing around the front of the casting deck. I have seen those before. Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Project Healing Waters Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 I think the platform is the problem I see. Flats boats are good skinny water fishing rigs. I wouldn't put railing on one for fly fishing. And the forward casting deck is very stable. Maybe if you put a CHAIR on the poling platform... http://www.projecthealingwaters.org
Gavin Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 I've fished off a few flats skiffs, and they are very comfortable and stable. No need for a rail on the casting deck...Not sure how well it would work out for Taney though....You might try adding a platform and pushpole to an existing rental boat and see how it works before you buy a flats rig.... Pushpoles arent cheap either..A Fiberglass push pole runs around $300, graphite models can go for $800 or more, something to consider if a customer gets one stuck in the muck and cant retrieve it... Cheers.
Danoinark Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 I want a rail on mine should I hook that squid I won't walk right off the front of it..... Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
