I thought about the safety issue with a polling platform also. But I think the flats boats would work great in the skinny water and are very stable. I wouldn't need a platform, but I would want railing around the front of the casting deck. I have seen those before.

I've fished off a few flats skiffs, and they are very comfortable and stable. No need for a rail on the casting deck...Not sure how well it would work out for Taney though....You might try adding a platform and pushpole to an existing rental boat and see how it works before you buy a flats rig.... Pushpoles arent cheap either..A Fiberglass push pole runs around $300, graphite models can go for $800 or more, something to consider if a customer gets one stuck in the muck and cant retrieve it... Cheers.
