Members tinner Posted February 14, 2008 Members Posted February 14, 2008 That's one thing I have to do more of this year. I need to get my kids out fishing more often. I have a 7 year old and a 4 year old so it's kind of tough with my work and my wifes work and baseball and dance and all the other stuff they're interested in. I have taken them to a few places here around STL but haven't found any place that the kids can consistently catch fish. You know how short there attention span can be. I am going to try a few different spots this year.
CaptainJoe Posted February 14, 2008 Author Posted February 14, 2008 The pictures and stories are great, keep them coming. I cannot post a picture on one granddaughter and leave the other one out, so here is a picture of my second granddaughter holding a 5# largemouth caught on Table Rock in July 2006. Dalyn, age 8 at the time, did not catch this fish, but the look on her face is priceless. I can still hear her words today: "Hurry up and take the picture, Pappy. He's going to bite me. Hurry! Hurry! Hurry!" Captain Joe Hreha Owner of MO Fenchbulldogs.com; Captain Joe's Guide Service (Retired); OAF Contributor; & Captain, U. S. Marine Corps (Retired) http://www.mofrenchbulldogs.com
wily Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 this is joe and i at RR -- i'd cast out a little green worm and he'd reel it in...they liked his herky jerky style of reeling. biggest fish of the trip. this is his older brother at beaver this past fall...we went with beaver fever guide (dan andreason) -- good guide...one thing i'll say is the rods are too large for little kids, so not as much fun for kids. But this one might be my favorite!!!
Danoinark Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 Grandson Skyler likes to go to Dry Run Creek on the Norfork. This is his first trout at Dry Run, he just shouldn't "love" the fish so much.. He is also getting the fly casting down a little better....Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
tippet7 Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 My dad and me. I was about 3 at the time. My dad loved this picture so much, he did a watercolor mural in our basement of it. Not fishing, but last Sept I took my 9 yr old stepson on his first ever dove hunt. You are so stupid you threw a rock at the ground and missed.
chub minnow Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 Our friends son - goofing off after the fishing trip.
retroaction man Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 my sons first fish and my sons first trout and yes he got that puppy in all by himself :cheers
Hunter91 Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 We and some friends were catching some nice crappie out of Long Creek a few years ago. My son was getting "bored" with just catching 11-13 inch crappie. So he starts throwing a wiggle wart at noon and about his third cast to the bank he hangs a 6.9lb bass. Really put it on us old folks that day. After pics, measuring and weighing, he did not bat an eye as he released her. He has a replica on the wall now of her.
